Atlanta District 7 City Councilman Howard Shook says not enough is being done to protect citizens across the city.

Shook also shared his thoughts about the protection of the city’s children.

He recently spoke with WABE’s Lisa Rayam after a 7-year-old girl was shot and killed in Buckhead.

The young girl, Kennedy Maxie, had been in critical condition after she was struck by a stray bullet while riding in a car near Phipps Plaza on Dec. 21. She died Saturday night.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms released a statement over the weekend calling Kennedy’s death a “senseless murder.”

The Atlanta Police have been examining surveillance footage from the scene to identify a suspect.

There’s a $15,000 reward for the shooter’s arrest.
